Azadi Tower, also known as the Freedom Tower, is a monument and symbol of Tehran, Iran. It was built in 1971 in commemoration of the 2,500th anniversary of the Persian Empire. The tower is located in Azadi Square, the largest square in Tehran, and stands at a height of 45 meters (148 feet) with eight floors above ground and five floors below ground.
The tower was designed by Iranian architect Hossein Amanat, who was a student at the time of the competition for the design of the tower. The inspiration for the design of the tower comes from pre-Islamic and Islamic architecture, including the Achaemenid and Sassanid architectural styles. The tower is constructed of white marble and is adorned with reliefs and inscriptions that reflect the history and culture of Iran.
The main feature of the tower is the large central arched chamber, which is flanked by two smaller arches on each side. The central chamber contains a museum that showcases artifacts and exhibits related to Iranian history and culture. The tower also houses a library, a conference center, and a restaurant.
Azadi Tower has become one of the most famous landmarks of Tehran and is a popular tourist destination in the city. The tower has been featured in many movies, music videos, and TV shows, and has become a symbol of Iranian identity and pride.
