What is Topologica?⌄
Topologica is a free travel platform for exploring the world: interactive maps of countries, cities, places and airports, curated destination guides, travel quizzes, and a multi-stop route planner. Everything works without an account.
How do I create a travel map?⌄
Open the Travel Map page, search for the places you have visited or want to visit, and pin them to your map. You can mark places as visited or wishlist, and share your map with friends via a link.
How does the route planner work?⌄
On the Travel Map page, switch to the Route Planner tab and add cities to your trip. Topologica calculates distances, travel times and CO2 estimates for every leg, suggests transport modes (flight, train, bus, car or boat), draws the route on a map, and gives you a shareable link.
Is Topologica free? Do I need an account?⌄
Yes, Topologica is completely free. Browsing destinations, taking quizzes and planning routes work without an account. Creating an account lets you save your personal travel map and track visited countries.
How do I share a route or travel map?⌄
Published routes get a permanent link like topologica.co/routes/your-route that anyone can open — no login required. Draft routes and travel maps can also be shared with a single link.
Where does the destination data come from?⌄
Topologica maintains its own database of 65,000+ cities, 4,000+ curated places, countries, regions and airports, enriched with descriptions, photos, coordinates and travel details, and updated continuously.
How accurate are the travel times and CO2 estimates?⌄
Estimates are based on typical average speeds per transport mode (e.g. cruise speed plus airport overhead for flights) and standard per-kilometer emission factors. They are meant for trip planning and comparison, not exact bookings.
Can I suggest a destination or report an error?⌄
Yes — use the contact page to suggest new destinations, corrections or features. We review submissions regularly and update the database continuously.
