During the medieval period, Sorbolongo was an important center of commercial activities due to its strategic position on the route connecting Fano to Urbino. The castle was also used as a defense point against the neighboring castles and towns. In the 16th century, the castle was modified with the addition of a tower and a church dedicated to Santa Maria degli Angeli.

Today, Sorbolongo maintains its medieval charm with narrow streets and houses made of stone. Visitors can still admire the castle's original structure and the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which features frescoes and a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. The town also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the nearby Cesano river valley.

Sorbolongo is a quiet and peaceful town, perfect for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The town has a small bar and a restaurant where visitors can taste the traditional cuisine of the Marche region, such as homemade pasta, grilled meat, and local wines.
