Salamanca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its historic city center is particularly well-preserved. Some of the most notable landmarks in the city include the Plaza Mayor, which is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Spain, and the Old Cathedral and New Cathedral, both of which feature stunning architecture and intricate stone carvings.

Another major attraction in Salamanca is the University of Salamanca, which was founded in the early 13th century and is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The university's ornate Plateresque facade is particularly impressive.
