Sagarmatha National Park is a protected area located in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal. The park was established in 1976 and covers an area of 1,148 square kilometers. It is best known as the home of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, which stands at 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above sea level.

The park is home to a variety of rare and endangered species, including the snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, red panda, and musk deer. It also contains over 200 species of birds, including the golden eagle and the Himalayan monal.

In addition to its wildlife, the park is known for its stunning natural beauty. The landscape is characterized by high mountain peaks, glaciers, and deep valleys, as well as forests of rhododendron and oak trees.

Tourism is a major industry in the region, and many visitors come to the park to trek to the base camp of Mount Everest or to climb the mountain itself. The park is also home to several Sherpa villages, where visitors can learn about the local culture and way of life.

Sagarmatha National Park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 in recognition of its outstanding natural and cultural value.
