Quilotoa is a volcanic crater located in the Andes of Ecuador, about 170 km (105 mi) south of Quito. The crater was formed by a massive eruption around 800 years ago, and it is now filled with turquoise blue-green water, which is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The name Quilotoa is derived from the Quichua language and means "tooth of the moon".

Quilotoa is a popular tourist destination and can be visited on day trips from Quito or other nearby towns. Visitors can hike around the crater's rim to take in the stunning panoramic views, or take a steep trail down to the water's edge for a closer look. The hike around the crater rim takes about 4-5 hours and is moderately challenging due to the high altitude.

Quilotoa is also known for its traditional indigenous markets that are held in the nearby towns. Visitors can see the locals sell their handmade products and fresh produce in a colorful and lively atmosphere. The area is also known for its unique cuisine, which features local ingredients and traditional preparation methods.
