The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge located in the Gard department of southern France. It is one of the most well-preserved examples of Roman engineering and is considered one of the most impressive structures of its kind. The bridge spans the Gardon River and was built in the 1st century AD to carry water from a spring in Uzès to the Roman colony of Nimes.

The Pont du Gard is comprised of three levels of arches, with the highest level rising to a height of 160 feet (49 meters). The arches were constructed using a series of stone blocks, some of which weigh up to 6 tons. The precision of the construction and the quality of the materials used allowed the bridge to withstand the forces of gravity, erosion, and earthquakes for over 2,000 years.

Today, the Pont du Gard is a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can walk along the bridge and view the remains of the Roman aqueduct, as well as take guided tours and explore the surrounding park. The site is also used as a venue for various cultural and historical events, making it a major cultural landmark of southern France.
