Palanok Castle, also known as Mukachevo Castle, is a historic fortress located in the town of Mukachevo, in western Ukraine. The castle was built in the 14th century and has been renovated and expanded throughout the centuries. It is situated on a hill that overlooks the city and is surrounded by a moat.

Palanok Castle has been used as a residence for various rulers throughout its history, including Hungarian kings, Polish kings, and Austro-Hungarian emperors. The castle also played a significant role in the anti-Habsburg uprisings in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The castle features several architectural styles, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. The interior of the castle has been preserved and includes medieval weaponry, furniture, and art. Visitors can explore the castle's chambers, chapels, dungeons, and towers, including the 30-meter tall cylindrical tower that offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Palanok Castle is now a popular tourist attraction and cultural center, hosting concerts, festivals, and other events throughout the year. It was designated as a national historical and architectural monument in 1961 and was later included on the list of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine.
