Lake Matka is a natural lake located in the canyon of the Treska River, about 15 km southwest of Skopje, North Macedonia. The lake was created by the damming of the Treska River, and it is surrounded by high cliffs and the steep slopes of the Shar Mountain range.

The lake and the surrounding area are a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, as they offer a variety of activities such as hiking, climbing, kayaking, and fishing. The canyon itself is a protected natural area, and it is home to several endemic plant and animal species.

One of the most popular attractions in the area is the Matka Canyon, which is located just upstream from the lake. The canyon features numerous caves, including the Vrelo Cave, which is one of the deepest underwater caves in the world. The canyon is also home to several historical and cultural landmarks, such as the 14th-century St. Andrew's Monastery and the 17th-century Matka Monastery.

Visitors to Lake Matka can take a boat tour of the lake, explore the nearby caves and monasteries, hike along the canyon trails, or simply enjoy the scenic beauty of the area. The lake and canyon are easily accessible by car or public transportation from Skopje, and there are several accommodations and restaurants in the area for visitors to enjoy.
