Komodo National Park is a protected area located in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara, in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands. It was established in 1980 to conserve the unique and endangered Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) as well as its habitat, and it has since been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park covers an area of 1,733 km2 and encompasses three major islands: Komodo, Rinca, and Padar, as well as several smaller islands.

Komodo dragons are the largest living species of lizards and can grow up to 10 feet in length and weigh up to 300 pounds. They are unique to the Lesser Sunda Islands and are only found within the park boundaries. The park provides a habitat for various other species of flora and fauna as well, including wild pigs, monkeys, deer, and birds, as well as mangrove forests, coral reefs, and beaches.

Visitors to the park can go on guided tours to see the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat and also have the opportunity to explore the islands and their ecosystems by hiking, diving, or snorkeling. The park is accessible by boat from the town of Labuan Bajo, on the island of Flores, and attracts thousands of tourists every year to witness the beauty and uniqueness of its natural wonders.
