Cascais began as a fishing village, but it has become a popular tourist destination over the years. Visitors can enjoy the charming cobbled streets of the historic center, lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. The town is also known for its many cultural and historical sites, such as the impressive Cascais Citadel, built in the 17th century as a defense against Spanish invasions. Other notable landmarks include the Santa Marta Lighthouse, which dates back to the 18th century, and the Palácio da Cidadela, a former royal palace that now houses a cultural center.

Cascais is also home to a number of beautiful beaches, including Praia da Ribeira, Praia do Guincho, and Praia do Tamariz. These beaches are popular for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports like surfing and windsurfing.
