Asinara is an Italian island located in the Mediterranean Sea, northwest of Sardinia. The island is approximately 52 square kilometers in size, and its highest point is Punta della Scomunica, which is 408 meters high.

Asinara is a protected national park, and it is known for its unspoiled nature, clear waters, and white sandy beaches. The island's beaches are popular for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling, and there are several hiking trails that offer stunning views of the coastline and the surrounding countryside.

Asinara was once a place of exile for political prisoners, and there are several abandoned buildings on the island that once served as prisons, including the Fornelli prison, which is now a museum. The island is also home to several historic landmarks, including a 16th-century tower, the Torre della Pelosa, and a 19th-century lighthouse, the Faro di Punta della Scomunica.

Visitors can reach Asinara by ferry from the town of Stintino, located on the northwest coast of Sardinia. There are no cars allowed on the island, and visitors are required to take guided tours or rent bicycles to explore the island. The park authorities offer several guided tours that provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about the island's history, flora, and fauna.
