Antigua Guatemala is a historic city located in the central highlands of Guatemala. It was the former capital of the Spanish colony of Guatemala and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is known for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture, which includes beautiful baroque churches, monasteries, and mansions.

One of the most famous landmarks in Antigua is the Santa Catalina Arch, a distinctive red stone arch that spans a street and is a symbol of the city. Another famous landmark is the Cathedral of San Jose, which was once the largest church in Central America. Other notable buildings in Antigua include the Palace of the Captains-General, which was the residence of the Spanish colonial governors, and the Convent of Las Capuchinas, a former convent that is now a museum.

In addition to its rich history and architecture, Antigua is also known for its lively cultural scene, including its markets, festivals, and street food. The city is surrounded by three large volcanoes, including the Agua Volcano, which adds to its dramatic scenery.
